The term 'social media' describes types of media that involve digital platforms and interactive participation. SM includes forms such as email, text, blogs, message boards, connection sites. The format for “cases studies” at a CSCE conference is a four-page extended abstract for publication, supported by a full presentation to encourage discussion. The Human Dimension Seminar will provide a platform for an exchange of views among different stakeholders on key aspects of the rule of law framework for media freedom. The Seminar will serve as an opportunity to discuss the implementation of relevant OSCE commitments on media.

By Jordan Warlick, Policy Advisor From November 2 to November 3,Helsinki Commission staff participated in the OSCE Supplementary Human Dimension Meeting on the Role of Free Media in the Comprehensive Approach to Security.

Supplementary Human Dimension Meetings are convened a few times per year on specific subjects that are determined to deserve distinct focus by the Chairmanship. The CSCE Human Dimension Seminar on Tolerance took place on 16 - 20 November in Warsaw. The Seminar was organized by the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights.
